Vlada Shlyavas

Dean of Academics for Grades 6-8

Vlada is entering her second year at HLA and her ninth in education. Vlada has taught high school English and was the department chair before transitioning to middle school. She oversees the English, Math, and Social Studies departments in 6-8th grades. As an immigrant herself, Vlada knows firsthand the importance of language acquisition and reading comprehension and stresses the importance of reading to the HLA scholars. Inclusion of all students continues to be at the forefront of what drives her. She believes that families are partners in their children’s educational journey and will always make time to know them.
Vlada enjoys spending time with her family and close friends. She is especially excited about sending her daughter off to college in the coming year!

She holds a Masters degree from Touro College.
