Hebrew Public is leading a national movement of exceptional, diverse public charter schools that teach Modern Hebrew to children of all backgrounds and prepare them to be successful global citizens.
Modern Hebrew and Israel Studies
Hebrew Public students are taught Modern Hebrew daily in small groups by native speakers, and learn about the cultures and history of Israel. These areas of study culminate in an 8th-grade Capstone trip to Israel.
Diversity and Community
Our schools are diverse by design, bringing together students and families from many different backgrounds. Students engage in meaningful service-learning projects, including working with younger children. Our schools’ inclusiveness and sense of community develop students’ teamwork, empathy, cross-cultural understanding, and critical thinking – attributes that are vital for success in college and career.
OLAM Values
As part of our mission, we help students become global citizens. OLAM is the Hebrew word for “world” and we use it as an acronym to describe these values, which include:
• Outstanding Problem Solvers
• Lifelong Learners
• Aware Communicators
• Making a Difference
Our schools
All 8th-grade graduates are eligible to join our Capstone trip to Israel where students put their Hebrew knowledge to the test in the real world.
This international adventure broadens students’ perspective of the world, promotes global and self-awareness, and fosters independence, autonomy, and reflection.
For most Hebrew Public students, the trip is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Many have never had a chance to explore other countries and are traveling by airplane for the first time.
